We believe in the right to freedom of speech as a human right.
We believe in the freedom to hold opinions without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice.
We believe in the right to freedom of expression to receive and impart information.
We believe that the exercise of these freedoms is not an absolute right but carries with it duties and responsibilities, that may be subject to restrictions or penalties on specific grounds as prescribed by law and are necessary in a democratic society, in the interests and protection of the reputation or rights of others.
We believe that majority of the Overseas Filipino Workers have chosen to leave the Philippines to seek and search for better livelihood opportunities abroad so they may be able to support themselves and their families back home.
We believe that there is nothing wrong with doing an honest day’s work as a domestic help or as construction worker or doing any other menial and blue collar jobs.
We believe that OFWs whether professionals or not should be given honor and respect.
We believe that the OFW is the Hope of the Nation, Gift to the World!
We regard Mr. Mike Avenue’s Pinoy Blog post on "Tsokolate" as one that lacked research and a flagrant ignorance of the truth about Overseas Filipino workers and expatriates.
We regard this lack of truth and ignorance as especially inexcusable from one who feigns intelligence and high learning and coax people into belief and following.
We regard his statements: “minumura ng amo kapalit ng dolyar” and “humahalik sa paa ng mga dayuhan” as blatant mockeries of the sacrifices of the Overseas Filipino Workers and expatriates and are hasty generalizations of the living and working conditions of the Filipino expatriates and OFWs.
We regard his post as tactless and offensive, trying to make a lame attempt to sarcasm that failed to be funny, at the expense of the Overseas Filipino Workers.
We regard his post as a clear display of arrogance, done in a distasteful manner with blind indifference and unjust condemnation of the millions of hardworking OFWs who work long hours to earn an honest buck.
We regard his post to have overstepped the bounds of sensitivity and responsibility of a decent mind and an accountable and sensible blogger.
Therefore, we at PEBA and KaBLOGs and the THOUGHTSKOTO family
We strongly condemn this irresponsible blog post and Mike Avenue.
We consider Mike Avenue as an Anti-OFW persona.

We demand a retraction and an apology from Mike Avenue of Pinoy Blogs for this irresponsible blogpost!
We are Filipinos and we should stand together and strive for a better Philippines!

Ang TEMA ng PEBA - Expounded
"Filipinos Abroad - Hope of the Nation, Gift to the World."
Or
“Pinoy Expats/OFW – Pag-asa ng Bayan, Handog sa Mundo.”
Natatawa ako kasi sa lahat kaming mga members ng Core Group ng PEBA,
ako lang yata ang nagtatagalog ng post. I’ve lost so much traffic
since I started a Taglish post, from monthly hits of 3,000 nasa less
than 1,000 hits na lang. Pero it’s not the traffic that is more
important to me now. Thoughtskoto may not be widely searched in Google,
but I wanted to make myself clear, I will sacrifice my traffic hits
just so I will be understood and so that I can express myself better,
clearer and understandable. I don’t believe that English posts are
nosebleed to Pinoys especially bloggers.
If you are articulate and
inspiring; if you are encouraging and informative; if you are witty
and yet making sense; people will definitely read your posts whether in English
or in our native language. Filipinos are known to be very good in
English, wise, educated, and yes, bright and smart.
Ang pinakatema ng contest this year is all about HOPE. PAG-ASA. There
are times I am so sick and tired in watching news back home, and there
are times that I ask myself, may pag-asa pa kaya ang Pilipinas? Kahit
What happens in the
every stock markets and economies of the world.
Hope of the Nation
Ang mga Expats and OFW, “with their talents, means, resources and
their blogs will serve as voices and beacons of hope” With 12 Million
OFW’s in over 182 countries and islands around the world, and with an
estimated minimum annual remittance to the Philippines of
736,000,000,000.00, (P736 Billion) OFWs are bearers of
hope to a country so troubled yet beloved.
Thus, Filipinos abroad are hope for the
Philippine economy afloat with the dollar influx, they feed millions
of families, send kids to good schools, engaged in some livelihood
businesses, helping create more jobs and generate activities of worthy
cause. I can expound it deeper and further, but suffice it to say,
OFW’s are the new heroes and hope of our society. If you are not
convinced that you are for our country, at least you are, to your love
ones left behind.
I’ve read the comment of a visitor in The Pope, Palipasan blog in
support of PEBA. He said; “I am an OFW son. Nakikita ko kung paano
nag-titiis si tatay to give us good life. Count me in. Suportahan
natin yan!.”
Nagpapakahirap. Nagpapakasakit.”
Count them twice or thrice and multiply to 12M, you will get an idea
how many millions of OFWs family members look up to them. It is the same reason for which we choose HOPE as a theme. OFW’s are real heroes and heroines, alive and
breathing and its time to stand hand in hand with head held high and
be heard, be counted. Kapit-kamay!
Gift to the World
You must have known or come across a Filipina Chef in the White House? Do you know
that Filipinos are the 2nd highest paid professionals in

Everywhere you go, Filipinos shine forth as dedicated, hardworking and
fun loving people. Anywhere, when a Filipino touches a caliper, a keyboard, a syringe, a microphone, a machine, oil, water, earth, stone and fire, beauty and magnificence is created. Knowledge and creativity naturally and freely flows. Thus, producing result not only to the economy where an OFW works but also lifts a cheerful spirit, comfort and joy to loved ones back home.
In its second year, PEBA will recognize Pinoy Expats and OFWs bloggers making a difference in their lives, workplace, community, the This year the theme is “Filipinos Abroad – Hope of the Nation, Gift to the World”. Cognizant and directly affected by the brunt of global financial crisis, Filipinos continue to anchor their hope and trust to their family members abroad as herald of better news and good tidings. Thus, reinforcing the OFWs and Filipino expats role and image as new heroes and saviors. PEBA also recognizes that Filipinos wherever they are, be it land-based, sea-based or air-based as the case maybe, are shining examples of dedication, diligence, and excellence in almost anything they do. It is not uncommon for them to be praised as assets to companies and organizations contributing to the social and economic well being of their host country. PEBA considers the more than 12m overseas Filipinos scattered abroad as gifts to make this world a better place to live. The award which started last year had a very simple objective. It was created to award bloggers who infuses enthusiasm and inspiration for others to do good and be hopeful in this world of hopelessness. Filipino expats and OFWs with their talents, means, resources and blogs unfailingly served as voice and beacon of hope. Ten top bloggers were identified from around the globe such as the So for this year with the valuable help of numerous individuals from around the globe, the search is on again. Filipino bloggers and netizens are invited to recognize Pinoy Expats/OFW who tireless blog in making the blogosphere a better space and place for exchange, discussion, and service of the Filipinos and the citizens of the world alike. 12 MILLION STORYTELLERS FOR CHANGE "by Jim Paredes, of http://haringliwanag.pansitan. Last week’s article was an expression of concern about the coming 2010 elections and the sweeping changes we need in our country. Although I was not surprised at the tremendous reader reactions via letters, e-mail, calls from people everywhere, I must say that the response has been quite inspiring. There is a constituency for change out there and it is pretty sizeable. A lot of the reactions came from overseas, from disgruntled Filipinos who have given up completely on the Philippines and left the country in disgust, and from those who, while they live abroad, continue to pine for their homeland and want to do their share in taking it out of the rut it is in. To both groups, this column is for you. There are around 12 million overseas Filipino workers spread out all over the world. Their blood, sweat and tears are what keep this country financially afloat. The money they send home keeps many kids in school, feeds families and generates a lot of the economic activity that keeps the entire Philippines humming. In many ways, it is only fitting that OFWs should be encouraged to play a role and have a say in creating a vision of what the Philippines can be. Aside from their economic contribution, OFWs have made many personal sacrifices to hold up the sky for their loved ones. They have missed out on birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, Christmases and other milestones in the lives of those they cherish. Ironically, they know quite well that it is precisely their absence that makes the observance of such major events possible. But more important than all that is the untapped capability of OFWs to bring about meaningful change in the country. OFWs have had the opportunity to live and work in many functional societies around the world, and have thrived in them. To my mind, their experiences abroad can be very valuable in helping create a functional vision of our country’s future. Our OFWs can be the storytellers, narrators and witnesses of how the lives of ordinary Filipinos can move ahead if the system only allows them to. Their very lives are testimonies to this. Where for years, their dream of becoming something had not been possible in their homeland because of the social inequity and lack of opportunities, now they are proud, productive and prosperous people. One of the joys of traveling is in meeting our kababayans who, though they still exhibit traits of their humble beginnings (noticeable only to a fellow Pinoy), now carry themselves with dignity that says they are equal to everyone else in the new country they live in. It tells me that we, as a people, have what it takes to get ahead and achieve excellence when the cards are dealt fairly.

im sorry but i beg to disagree on this one:
"Naisip ko lang I think yung isang reason na iniiwan ng mga magagandang lalaki ang kanilang mga asawa dahil seguro hindi na ito nagpapaganda, laspag na sa wikang kanto."
hindi lahat ng mga babaeng iniiwan ng mga asawa nila eh dahil sa losyang na sila. meron lang talagang mga lalaking sadyang tinatamaan ng kagaguhan (sorry for the word) at nagagawang mang-iwan when in fact, sila naman ang nagsimula ng lahat..
i asked for a loving husband and a lovely family...what did i get?
i got a pocketful of kunsumisyon, quite a handfull of wrinkles plus the fact that "he" left us...
kaya ngayon, i dont ask anything at all... nadala na ako.. being disappointed and hurt once is already enough...
napahaba... chureee... nacarried away

Yanah, Thank you for the comment.sabi ko "naisip ko lang" now I know na mali din yung naisip ko kasi you experience it talaga.
In fact iniwan din ang nanay ko ng tatay ko 6 years old pa lang ako.
But its not over, right?
You won't give up because you failed once. Hope is constant. Somewhere out there, sometime, youll find the right one. The one that you're asking...
hehe, para na ba akong pari...
But hey thanks for dropping by!
